Our first short breaks were to Swedish Lapland - inside the Arctic Circle - specifically for clients to witness the spectacular Northern Lights. From that we have worked with our partners to create a small range of 'best in class' Northern Lights short break packages - weekend and mid-week breaks that provide a great package of activities to keep guests entertained by day, whilst visiting some of the best locations for spotting the Aurora Borealis.
Whether you travel on a Swedish Lapland break with us to Kiruna (our original destination), Jukkasjärvi for the original ICEHOTEL, or our most recent addition at Abisko you can be assured of excellent opportunities to enjoy all that Swedish Lapland has to offer. Activities such as dog sledding; snow mobile tours; ice climbing; ice fishing; tour of the ICEHOTEL and visits to the Aurora Sky Station. Along the way you'll experience superb cuisine cooked by experienced chefs - mostly from local ingredients such as reindeer, moose, lingonberry and cloudberry. Fish features quite heavily - Arctic Char is another of our favourites! In Abisko we even give you the opportunity to experience ice fishing. Abisko is probably the best place in the world to see the Northern Lights!
The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are a naturally occuring phenomenon. Whilst we cannot guarantee you'll see the lights, by travelling to the best destinations - at the right times of the year - we can at least offer you the best chance! The season lasts from October to March each year - with Iceland popular through the whole period. Sweden's season is shorter, whilst the Northern Lights are visible the activities are more dependent upon weather and local conditions such as significant snowfall. Our Arctic experience short breaks are designed to take advantage of the best conditions.
Note that ALL of our Northern LIghts Short Breaks in Swedish Lapland take place between December and March.

Northern Lights Lodge is a unique place to stay if you want to see the Northern Lights and experience beautiful surroundings and some great winter adventure. The Lodge is away from any light pollution and faces north towards the Abisko alps, one of the best places in the world for northern lights hunting. It offers you a very warm, cosy and peaceful place to stay.
The Lodge has seven double rooms, each with a loft and en-suite bathroom. An open plan lounge with fireplace and comfortable chairs provides the perfect antidote to a day exploring the region. All meals are served in a dining room next to the lounge where at breakfast you can enjoy the panoramic view over the snow-covered mountains. There is a relaxation area with a sauna.
You can book an evening slot in the hot tub situated on the roof with an excellent view over the night sky. Lie back, warm yourself with a cup of hot chocolate and gaze heavenwards in search of the Aurora.
You also have free Wi-Fi, coffee, tea and biscuits and can also borrow the snowshoes and cross-country skis for free, if you're feeling adventurous... and have the time!
The original ICEHOTEL, Sweden, was founded in 1989. It's an art exhibition and hotel made of natural ice and snow from one of Europe's last wild rivers, 200 km inside the Arctic Circle. The walls, floors and ceilings of the hotel are the canvases of designers from all creative disciplines. The artists and art work vary from year to year, each rendition of the hotel presenting an ephemeral collection. The hotel melts and returns to Mother Nature in spring.
Alongside the ICEHOTEL are a number of 'warm cabins' together with changing facilities for the cold accommodation. The site also boasts a chapel, two superb restaurants, warm lounge areas and a souvenir shop. And, of course, no trip to the ICEHOTEL would be complete without a visit to the ICEBAR where averything is made from ice! Yes, even the 'glasses'.
ICEHOTEL recently celebrated 25 seasons of creating a unique hotel experience. Whilst the themes may be similar, each year the Art Suites are unique. Guests not staying at the ICEHOTEL do have an opportunity to tour the property on most of our short breaks to Swedish Lapland.
We're pleased to offer a range of Northern Lights and ICE HOTEL holidays across the winter season.
Abisko is home to some fascinating sights, and also the Aurora Sky Station - reached via chairlift - which, if the weather is helpful, is one of the best place to see the Aurora Borealis. Alternatively take a snow shoe walk up the mountains behind our accommodation and experience this incredible collision between space weather and our own atmosphere - during the season it's an almost daily occurance.
Located on the edge of Abisko National Park, the lodge is a single low, red house that lies hidden away at the foot of the mighty mountains. The restaurant serves fabulous locally sourced meals (fish, reindeer and moose feature) and there is a relaxing sauna. Dick is one of the most qualified mountain guides in Sweden while Mina is described as a Skier and 'ray of sunshine' who lights up the hotel.
Abisko is often the destination for our Aurora Hunts - where our guides use their knowledge to take guests out to the best possible locations for seeing the Northern Lights so even if you're not staying at the Mountain Lodge it's quite likely you'll get to experience the majesty of the landscape around Abisko National Park.
