Day 1 - Fly to Lulea. Wilderness Dinner & Aurora snowmobile Sled Hunt
Fly to Lulea in Swedish Lapland, where you will be met at the airport and transferred to Pine Bay Lodge, situated on the edge of the Lulea Archipelago.
The team at the lodge will welcome and provide you with Arctic Clothing for your use for the duration of your holiday.
The lodge is a small traditional Swedish red cottage with a very homely feel and is situated in a remote spot on the edge of the Archipelago. Settle in prior to your wilderness dinner where the guides will take you out on sleds pulled by snowmobiles to an outdoor sheltered dining area with fire and reindeer skins laid out to sit on.
Enjoy dinner cooked over the crackling fire with the stars or with a little luck the northern lights above you. The guides will bring snowshoes and head-lights to allow you to get away from the light of the fire and enjoy the skies in complete darkness.

Day 2 Wilderness Snowmobile Adventure and Outdoor Lunch
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge and leisurely start. Late morning the snowmobiles will be fired up and you will venture out with a guide into the wilderness around the lodge. There are a number of lovely trails and depending on weather conditions you should be able to get out and drive on the frozen Archipelago. This is a real thrill and one of the only places in Lapland you can drive on frozen seas!
Lunch will be prepared and cooked outdoors.
This afternoon / evening relax and enjoy the surroundings. The traditional Swedish Sauna will be lit and you can soothe the muscles prior to enjoying a 3 course dinner prepared by the resident lodge chef.
Relax in the lounge by the fireplace or if the northern lights are out venture outside for a clear view with little light pollution in the area.

Day 3 Drive Sled Dog Team or Hovercraft. Dinner On Ice™
After breakfast you have two fabulous options to choose from.
OPTION 1 - Drive your own sled dog team
Your guide will transfer you to the kennel about 15kms away from the lodge. You and a partner will learn to take control of a husky team and have the satisfaction of mushing them as you drive on the forest and lake trail. The experience lasts 2 hours and is sure to leave you with some fantastic memories.
OPTION 2 - Hovercraft Tour over frozen archipelago to the Pack Ice
A unique and magical way of exploring Lulea’s frozen archipelago
in on board a hovercraft. No where else in Swedish Lapland is this experience available! Your 2.5 hour tour will include a journey across the ice-covered Bothnian Bay with the goal to see the pack ice fields of the outer archipelago (weather conditions permitting).
There is free time to walk on the ice and if you are lucky there is the chance to spot a seal or sea eagles.
Tonight you are in for a unique and special treat - Dinner On Ice™. Enjoy fine local produce prepared in your traditional Sami Luvu ( Tepee)set on the frozen ice of the Archipelago. Your meal includes wine, water and coffee.
Transfer back to the lodge and overnight

Day 4 - Airport Transfer and Flight Home
After breakfast at leisure prior to transfer to the 30 minute airport transfer for your flight home at the end of you short northern lights holiday between Christmas and new Year.

Pine Bay Lodge (Furufjärden in Swedish), run by Goran Widén, is situated on the edge of the Lulea Archipelago. The Luleå archipelago has a total of 1300 islands and only 100 residents. It is a unique wilderness environment where the sea around the island freezes up to a metre thick in winter. You will access the lodge by snowmobiling on the frozen sea on your first day making it quite unique in terms of experience!
Small, cosy and inviting this is the perfect short break retreat in the arctic.
The lodge is a lovely traditional Swedish red cottage with homely feel. On entering the lodge a lounge area and dining area with warm open fireplace welcomes you. This is home away from home and an area that you will relax in after your day's adventures.
There are only 8 guest rooms, each with their own ensuite bathroom. Furufjärden's kitchen will prepare wonderful dinners for you using only the best local ingredients.
Outside is the traditional Swedish Sauna house where you can relax and enjoy one of the local's favourite pastimes.
