Cape Town is one of South Africa's most popular and impressive tourist destinations. The V&A Waterfront, situated between Robben Island and Table Mountain in the heart of Cape Town's working harbour, has become one of the most visited destinations in its own right.
Since 1988, the harbour has continually undergone change, with the redevelopment of land and restoration of buildings surrounding the original Victoria and Alfred Basins, creating a mix of shopping and entertainment venues, intermingled with imaginative office locations, world-class hotels and luxury apartments in the residential marina.
Aside from the myriad of shops, restaurants and bars, there is a more cultural side to the Waterfront, focused around the historic clock tower, which was the original Port Captain's Office in 1882, and part of a well preserved collection of turn-of-the-century buildings. It is from near here that ferries depart for Robben Island (from the Nelson Mandela Gateway), while the Two Oceans Aquarium is a short walk away.
With ferries and boats always on the go, Cape Fur Seals playing in the harbour water and a mix of both locals and international visitors, the Waterfront is a wonderful place to soak up some of the Cape Town vibe!
The Waterfront area also makes an excellent base for getting out and experiencing a range of activities and destinations to compliment your luxury Cape Town short break. Scroll down to find links to a range of activities that can be pre-booked for your 'days at leisure'.
Our day and half-day excursions are available year round, although some are better experienced at specific times of the year.
Choose from a range of experiences from walking tours, wine experiences, shark diving and Sea Kayaking.
Explore the stunning scenery at Cape Point, or see Cape Town from the air in a helicopter tour. Or if you would like to experience some local culture then take in a 'township tour'.
Of course, if you don't want to go too far, but do want to get a sweat on then why not hike on Table Mountain with one of our guides!
